GAFE has a new name, G Suite for Education

So, Google just dropped some news that they're changing the long-held name of Google Apps for Education to just "G Suite for Education".

Google says in their email to Edu users, "Today we're introducing a new name that better reflects this mission: G Suite for Education." Alrighty then.

There's more from their official blog post: "G Suite is a set of intelligent apps—Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Hangouts, and more—designed to bring people together, with real-time collaboration built in from the start. And there’s a lot more on the way. Because we believe that when organizations break down silos, connect people and empower them to work together, we get the speed, agility and impact needed to compete in today’s market."

g-suite-logo.jpgIn short, today it looks like not much has changed for Google for Education users, but the branding will be updated in the coming days and weeks. There's so many blog posts, books, pages, and tutorials full of GAFE branding - looks like we'll all have to get used to the new name, G Suite. However, as an acronym, does GSFE really have the same ring to it?
